The Process is the fun of it all! It's when we at SSHH, get the opportunity to embrace our patients with welcome arms and helping hands.

     As part of our commitment, Shimmering Smiles, Healthy Hearts service all patients in low socioeconomic in North America and rural areas areas around the world. We are here to render FREE services for those who have little to zero dental and medical health access.  No one is turned away at our clinic. It is by the conditions of our hearts that Shimmering Smiles, Healthy Hearts accept and provide care to anyone coming to our site as a patient.

     Women who are pregnant will be assessed, and provided prenatal vitamins along with pregnancy education that will allow them to continue a healthy lifestyle for her and her new bundle of joy to come! Contingent upon the trimester, pregnant women will also be given an oral cleaning.

 

     Children of any age will be attended to for both the medical and dental sector. "No child left behind!" Within the dental sector, a child will be given an oral assessment, dental cleaning and fluoride treatment at the visit. If needed, additional dental care will be rendered (ie tooth extraction, fillings, sealants). Within the medical sector, children will be given a physical assessment and prescribed children’s multivitamin. Health education will also be taught to the children. We try to make the learning experience as fun as possible through storytelling, music and dance! 

 

     The geriatric population will be attended to for both a medical and dental assessment.  Necessary prescription will be prescribed and provided by our pharmacy post assessment, and oral health services will be rendered. For those with dentures, education on how dentures could be maintained and denture cleaning kit will be provided. For the feeble, as done in previous years, home visits will be made for those who cannot make the travel to our clinic sites.

 

     At the end of each visit, each patient will be provided with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a nutritious snack. Children will be given goodies along with school items such as pencils, shoes and clothes that were donated.
